For those who have been patiently waiting for Trials of War to be released (I’m still editing and making good progress), there was a good reason this book has taken so long. I was invited to work on the American Revolution Film Project at Florentine Films, where I advised and assisted in creating nearly 100 maps that appear in the series. For the past two and a half years, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed dedicating a significant amount of my free time to contributing to the series.

For me, this involved the background research I had already been doing to produce the maps that appear in my books, and expanding it to include all of North America. I highly recommend setting aside time to watch Ken Burns’s The American Revolution, which will air and stream on PBS beginning Sunday, November 16. The six-part, 12-hour documentary series directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt, explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence.
